I keep hearing about all these websites that sell college textbooks for cheaper than you can buy them from the school. Does anyone know how they work? I mean how do you know exactly what books you need? Do I have to go to the school to find out what books I need? Wouldn’t that be kinda awkward...just asking the…
Barnes and Noble sells used text books at a decent price. I have also heard that you can get them on Amazon. You have to find out what book you need by going to the class or sometimes you can call ahead to the school and tell you. Be careful. Sometimes there are last minute changes. In addition, you can borrow books from the library or make friends with someone thats a semester ahead of you and buy their used books. I would also check Craig’s List and Ebay. However, keep in mind that any money you save buying on the cheap may be eaten up in shipping, not to mention lost time. Good luck.
When do you find out what textbooks are needed for classes.
I am going to be a freshman in college and i start in 4 weeks,i need to know how to find out what textbooks i need for my classes so i can search around for the cheapest prices.can anyone help me?!!?
Your college bookstore is the best resource to use to collect the information. They are one of only a few select places that you will be able to see by class what books you need without having to wait until the first day of class. The key to saving money is to use your bookstores as a library.Go to the bookstore.See what books you needWrite down the ISBN (you will see two on most books but only one is needed)Go to a price comparison site such as www.campusbooks.comdo a search for the booksbuy the condition you feel most comfortable withIf you are concerned that your books may not arrive in time you can always purchase your books from the bookstore. In many cases they will let you use the book for two weeks before a return is required.But….Make sure you understand the return policy. For instance, in many cases if you buy a new book you can not remove it from the wrapper or they may require an add/drop fourm to process the return. The other option to finding the book information is to contact your professor prior to class. If should be pretty easy to find their email address on the department website. Many professors will post the required reading on a class website too. When contacting the professor be sure to ask them if an older version will work or if all the components of the book are truly required. Sometime you can find the same book without CD or online access code for a lot less.Saving money on textbooks takes a bit of time but it can be really rewarding.

College wholsale textbooks for business.
Hello, Im in the process of opening a college book store, and I want some inquiry on where to get in contact with wholesaler? And also how do I figure out what books are needed for a certain college and how to find out? Please be reasonable with the answers and helpful and have reall advice. Thank you
The first thing you should do is visit the NCES website (National Center for Education Statistics) to identify all of the colleges in your area and decide which ones you want to serve (this should help in choosing a location too). Go to http://nces.ed.gov/collegenavigator and you can find all kinds of info on colleges/universities in your area. Once you’ve identified the important schools, you can contact them to inquire about obtaining book lists. Also, DEFINITELY check out the National Association of College Stores (NACS) at http://nacs.org. They can provide all kinds of resources for nearly every aspect of the business. I would suggest becoming a member but you can still access some things on their site, like industry statistics, without doing so.
HELP. How do I find out what books I will need for college… SERIOUS 10 POINTS.
My first day of college is coming up, and I have already registered for my classes. But I don’t know what books I am going to need. I would like to be prepared for my classes and have my books early, but I have no idea where I can find them. Is there a generic name tab to look for on my portal? Or is this…
Every professor at your college who is teaching this semester got a form months ago to fill out for each class he or she is teaching. The professor filled out the form with required and recommended books and other information and submitted it to the bookstore. You get a list of all your classes: the course number (which will look something like “ENG 102”), the section number (which will look something like “03”), and the professor’s surname (if it says “TBA” that means “To Be Announced” and you can take that instead). Go to the school bookstore, either the physical store or the website. If students can access the physical stacks in the bookstore, you can go through there and find the section for each department, and then find the section within the departmental section for the course number, and then find the right section number. Double-check that you’re looking at the right section by making sure the professor’s name matches. If you can’t access the physical stacks, you’re going to need to enlist the help of someone who works there, but they should still be able to give you the information you need.If you choose to go online, you will click on a link for “Buy books” or something similar, and there will be a page with menus to select classes, again, by department, course number, and section number (if there’s only one section, they’ll usually omit that). When you have selected all your classes, you’ll hit a button with something like “Find books” on it, and you’ll get a page with the book assignments for all of your classes. You will need the required books. It’s up to you whether or not you want to buy the recommended books, if there even are any — I’d suggest waiting to buy them until after your first class, when the professor is likely to explain why she assigned any recommended books. Occasionally a class will have no required books at all.If you want to buy the books from the bookstore, you just go ahead and do that. It’s the most convenient way. However, you’re probably going to pay significantly higher prices than you would online, especially for books that are a few years old so that a lot of used copies are for sale. If you want to buy online, you write down the author, title, edition number, and ISBN. The ISBN is a 10- or 13-digit number that is unique to each book and edition number. Make sure you get the ISBNs copied down accurately, especially if you’ve gone to the physical bookstore. Then you start searching for the right books online, for a price you’re willing to pay, from a seller close enough to you and that offers the right shipping option(s) to get you the books by the time you need them. If you’re in Florida, for instance, a copy from South Carolina is likely to get there faster than a copy from Vermont, if the two sellers use the same shipping method. Use the ISBNs to find them, because you won’t have to worry about making sure you have the right edition number or whether a book by Johnson, Smith, and Jones is the same as the one when the bookstore lists the author as “JOHNSO.” If you got the information online, you can just copy and paste the ISBNs into the search fields at a search engine or a bookseller’s site and not have to worry that you’ve typed it in wrong. Use the author, title, and edition that you got from the bookstore to double-check that you’ve got the right book, but if you’re using the right ISBN, it always will be. And then once you find a copy of each book that you’re willing to buy, you buy it.You can also rent books, possibly from the school bookstore or definitely from some of the online sites like Chegg.com.I hope that that helps.
CUNY: How do I find out what books i need.
okay, so I need help finding out what my books for my classes are. I am an entering freshman for this fall but, I just can’t find it. Does anyone who goes to CUNY know where I can find it. btw I’m going city college. Thanks in advance.
I’ve never been to that school, but I’d imagine like any other college they have a bookstore on campus. You can find their information online and then ask them about what books you need for X class. Buying books from Amazon is always infinitely cheaper than buying them from the bookstore (anticipate $150ish/book). Buying used is cheaper than buying new (Expect $80ish/book). Some classes don’t even use the book that is assigned which is the biggest waste of money so perhaps you can go to ratemyprofessor.com and see if that sort of thing is mentioned (assuming you know who the professor is).
How to find these books for college.
Does anyone have “The Basics of Society ?Author Macionis, John J.It needs be the 9th edition.I am looking for that and the study guide book that goes with it for my Socialogy class.I can order them from my school book store but I thought I would see if there was anyone that had one first. Thanks 🙂
You can always look for new and used textbooks on amazon.com.*Go to amazon.com.*On the left-hand side, under ‘shop all departments’ , go to the ‘books’ drop down menu.*Click on ‘textbooks.’*Search for the title, and compare the results.*This is what I got:http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_b?url=…*I clicked on the first result and got:http://www.amazon.com/Society-MySocLab-J…Now, just look through and find a price you’re willing to pay. Make sure to look at sellers’ ratings if you’re buying used, and their shipping rates as well.Happy hunting!
What books do i need for college.
ok so im taking Human Development and Developmental Reading classes in college..what books do i need to buy and how much do they cost?
Depends on your school. You go to the college’s bookstore. They have a whole section of class books on shelves. Above each group of books are the classes they are needed for. Make sure to look for not only the class you are taking but the section of that class. Sometimes different teachers request different books for the same subject. There is usually other students working at the college book stores who will help you find the books you need if you are having trouble. Look for used books that cost less.As to cost. I have had college books run anywhere from $20 to $120 each.
How do you find out what books you’ll need for classes in college.
This probably sounds stupid but I’m kinda confused. They told us at Orientation that it was ok to wait until the first day but I don’t wanna do that. How would we even find out what books we need? There’s no list, no class description, nothing. So yeah, I’m kinda confused.
Well, you could go to your campus bookstore with a copy of your course schedule and ask if they have the books for your courses available yet. You could also email the professors and ask if they have decided on what books will be required for the course and if they could let you know so you can buy them early (trust me, most professors have to fight with students who don’t want to buy the books at all — you’ll be a breath of fresh air to them). Or you can just wait until the first day of class when you get the syllabus, which should have a list of all required course materials within the first couple of pages.
